Great Good Fine Ok headed home to New York City this past weekend for two shows, accompanied by Morgxn, a Tennessean with a soft spot for the Big Apple Great Good Fine Ok, comprised of Jon Sandler, Luke Moellman, Danny Wolf and Carey Clayton, concluded their 18-show run across the country with a duo of gigs Friday and Saturday at Rough Trade and Bowery Ballroom, respectively. Though the capacity grew by over 100% from night one to night two, the energy level did not falter; if anything, Sandler's larger stage Saturday gave him more room for his gilded sneakers to glide.
Night one at Rough Trade with GGFO was nothing short of a dance party, with the whole audience grooving to older tracks like You're The One For Me as well as songs of their newest release III like Everything To Me. At the Bowery performance, GGFO was joined by guests Peter Kirk of Panama Wedding and the members of Before You Exit for collaborations Easy Lover and Find Yourself, respectively. Moellman prefaced Kirk's appearance with a quip about the seemingly omnipresent drunk man that would always scream a request for the Phil Collins cover. Just a few songs later GGFO brought out Orlando natives Riley, Toby, and Connor McDonough of Before You Exit to perform the nearly month-old track Find Yourself. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance, which culminated in balloons raining down from the balcony. More photos from Bowery Ballroom, 6/17 GGFO is one of my favorite acts to catch live and a joy to photograph. Next time they hit the road don't hesitate to snatch a ticket!
